The Lexus Eco Challenge Update
This nationwide scholarship contest encourages middle and high school students to make a difference in environmental health and stability. Student teams from around the country create ways to address environmental issues through awareness, education, and fundraisers in their communities. Once they’ve defined the environmental issue they want to address, the teams develop and implement an action plan.
This year, the Lexus Eco Challenge consists of two contest categories, Land & Water and Air & Climate, with the top 16 teams receiving a $10,000 scholarship and a chance to compete in a Final Challenge. The Final Challenge, which addresses global eco concerns, will award eight winning teams with a $15,000 scholarship, and two Grand Prize winners will receive a $30,000 scholarship. All scholarships are split between the teacher, students, and school.
“The commitment and devotion shown by the students though their projects is remarkable,” Lexus Group Vice President and General Manager Mark Templin says. “We’re thrilled at Lexus that we can continue to support the program and encourage young students to take action to better the environment.”
Some of the students’ projects are remarkably innovative. One middle school team from All Saints Regional Catholic School in New Jersey used hybrid electricity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by implementing a small, but revolutionary, twelve-blade wind turbine.
The Lexus Eco Challenge is part of The Lexus Pursuit of Potential, a philanthropic charity primarily concerned with the nation’s youth. Lexus empowers these students to grow in their understanding of how to protect our world and create a more environmentally sustainable life.

Fans! It’s Maintenance Monday!
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE
Our main focus is your vehicles tires! Under- or over-inflation of tires can cause uneven tread wear, essentially weakening your tires and impacting gas mileage (upon other dangerous problems).
-Check your tire pressure regularly-Maintain the recommended pressure (listed in your vehicle's owner's manual)
-Balance and rotate your tires according to the specific recommendations
Fans, what a wonderful start to the week! Sheri had marvelous things to say about our service department at Lexus Carlsbad!
"I only trust Lexus Carlsbad with my car. I don't understand why people would go to a run of the mill place when they buy a $75,000 car. I often hear people in the lounge complain about the high cost of service but I gladly pay a premium knowing my car will be done correctly the first time. Please don't buy a luxury vehicle and then complain about the cost of maintenance, you just look cheap. If you want low cost maintenance then buy a Toyota.
Thank you Lexus Carlsbad Service Dept for always making my experience so pleasant. Special thank you to my service consultant Drew, who gives me the peace of mind that I'm in the right hands."Friday, February 22, 2013

Lexus RX 350 and RX 450h Win U.S. News & World Report’s 2013 Best Cars for the Money Award
Lexus earned top honors in two categories of U.S. News & World Report’s 2013 Best Cars for the Money awards for its outstanding value. The RX 350 luxury utility vehicle received the Best Luxury 2-Row Midsize SUV for the Money while the RX 450h hybrid luxury utility vehicle won the Best Hybrid SUV for the Money. This is the fifth year in a row that the RX 350 has won this award, while the RX 450h has received the top honor in its category for the past two years. “We are very proud that the RX 350 and RX 450h won their segments in U.S. News & World Report’s 2013 Best Car for the Money awards”, said Mark Templin, Lexus group vice president and general manager. “The RX created the luxury crossover category in 1998 and these awards show how Lexus continues to deliver industry leading quality at a great value to our customers.” The Best Cars for the Money methodology combines quality and value data into a composite score. Within each of 21 categories, the vehicle with the highest score is named the Best Car for the Money in that category. Quality is measured by the overall score a vehicle achieved in the U.S. News car rankings at the time the awards are published. The rankings, updated monthly at www.usnews.com/cars, compare cars on the basis of safety, reliability and a consensus of industry experts’ opinions. Value is measured by a combination of a vehicle’s five-year total cost of ownership and the average price paid for the vehicle at the time the awards are published.

Fans, Trish was kind enough to share her opinion of both the car buying and servicing experience at Lexus Carlsbad. We can't wait to help with her second purchase!
"I purchased my IS250 from Lexus of Carlsbad about two years ago and have taken it them for service multiple times ( and free car washes! ) since then. I've always been impressed with the quality of service, the personal attention, and I've never felt like a walking dollar sign!
They were so fair that even after I drove away, keys & car all done and taken care of, the finance manager called me a day later to tell me he got me an even lower rate on my financing. How's that for going the extra mile? It's a few years later and I'm thinking about maybe going with a different model or a smart car and guess where my first and probably last stop will be? Lexus Ranks Highest in 2013 J.D. Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability Study for the 2nd Consecutive Year
Lexus ranked highest in vehicle dependability among all nameplates for a second consecutive year in the 2013 J.D. Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS). The study tracks the number and type of problems owners have with their three-year-old vehicles. In the study, Lexus RX had the fewest reported problems in the industry, which is the first time in the history of VDS that a crossover or SUV has achieved this accolade. “There are many analyses conducted throughout the year, but VDS remains one of the most significant gauges of long-term vehicle quality and reliability,” said Mark Templin, Lexus group vice president and general manager. “This award not only reflects real-world, long-term quality and dependability, it shows Lexus’ dedication and commitment to our customers.” In addition, Lexus received two segment awards. The Lexus ES 350 entry luxury sedan ranked highest in the Entry Luxury Car segment. Other Lexus models to lead their respective segments include the Lexus RX luxury utility vehicle, which ranked highest in the Midsize Premium Crossover/SUV segment with a score of 57 PP100. The Lexus RX had the fewest PP100 of any crossover or SUV in the study. The Lexus GS 350/GS 460 finished in the top three of the Midsize Premium Car segment. J.D. Power and Associates’ VDS finds long-term durability continues to be important consumer factor. The number of problems an owner experiences affects their repurchase intent and vehicle’s retained value.
